Plans

Written by Thomas Thursday, 03 June 2010 20:41

This is the rough time plan for bringing the FSX Draken to the beta and eventually RTW stages:

  1. Close the minor bug/issue tickets in the bug tracker (as far as possible) (weeks 24-25)
  2. Finish the radar gauge (weeks 26-27)
  3. Package a limited beta version and release it on the web site (weeks 28-29)
  4. Beta testing and refining of the model and textures (weeks 30-33)
  5. Final testing and validation by reference group (weeks 34-37)
  6. Preparing the web shop and licensing system (weeks 34-37)
  7. Finalizing, packaging and releasing version 4.0 (week 38-41)

Which brings us into the Ides of October for the public release. Sorry about the long wait, but at least you can expect a beta version in July. Might even be sooner depending on the progress with the radar gauge etc. Please be patient with me, I am slow but stubborn...

Reinstalling

Written by Thomas Friday, 28 May 2010 21:55

Right now I am busy reinstalling FSX Deluxe, FSX Acceleration, FSX SDK, SP1A SDK, Acceleration SDK, Visual Studio, and a dazzling number of shareware/freeware apps for tweaking the FD. All from different backup disks, external hard drives, and USB flash drives. Having done this at least 5 times by now I am considering forking out for a 32GB USB stick and writing a batch script that will install everything in one (unattended) session. Now why didn't I think of this before?

Getting closer to recommencing development on version 4.x and finally getting down to business. :)

Stay tuned   /Tom

Hardware

Written by Thomas Monday, 24 May 2010 20:04

Still saving up for a new computer to replace the old XPS laptop. An alternative would of course be to hijack the family PC, although that would get me in some real trouble... "Are you done yet so I can go online/do my homework/play WoW"  Not the most creative environment.

The Vaio Z is still on my wish list, although for obvious reasons I will probably have to go for either an Alienware or XPS laptop in the medium range. Performance, display quality and cooling are what I am looking for, in that order. I will test drive a couple of notebooks over the next few weeks and see what I like. I am really anxious to get on with the work, though, so I might settle for something less than perfect and upgrade later. We'll see.

Stay tuned   /Tom

Another attack

Written by Thomas Monday, 17 May 2010 21:39

Our website was taken down on Sunday after another annoying attack. Very funny.

Visitors were instead presented with a somewhat confusing login dialog. That login script is simply a way for me to access the closed site for testing etc. and is not for user login. I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

The website has now been patched with the latest security updates and everything should be back to normal.

/Tom

Cockpit lighting (exterior)

Tuesday, 03 August 2010
Added some more detail to the rather frugal cockpit in the exterior model. The instruments are now illuminated at night, yay! Comments (6)

VC vertical position

Tuesday, 03 August 2010
One of our members just pointed out to me that the VC is positioned somewhat below the cockpit in the exterior model. Odd, since the VC and the exterior model are...

Decals resolution

The low resolution of the smaller decals on the fuselage have been bothering me ever since the beginning of the project. The overall exterior texture resolution is rather low, since I...
